bird toysThere are many ways to accessorize your bird cages and make them feel more at home. Not only will these bird cage accessories provide a visual appeal, but they will also keep the bird—and you—entertained. With their capability of flight, a bird ladder may seem superfluous in a bird cage.

Bird ladders, in fact, provide ideal entertainment for your feathered friend. Many ladders are made from natural rope and wood, which birds love to climb on and play with. This also provides a variety of textures, which will be the bird engaged. The ladder provides an additional perch in the cage as well.

Essential Bird Cage Considerations

However, people often purchase parrots and other birds for the purpose of companionship. While it’s true that birds require some work and attention, the payoff is certainly worth the trouble.

When selecting a cage for your pet, there are several factors to consider, beginning with size. A large bird cage will provide your parrot with plenty of room to stretch his wings and strut across a perch. Steel cages are mostly preferred over wood because they are easy to clean and much more durable. Also, be sure to look for cages that feature a pull-out tray at the bottom. This will make cleanup much simpler and less unpleasant. If the room you are putting the cage in has lots of light and foot traffic, you may want to consider bird cage covers as well.
